How Cheap is Printer Ink?

There were many great deals this season during the Thanksgiving Holiday sales from electronics, clothes, and even automobile dealers. Those who preferred to shop online on Cyber Monday did even better. had their 15% off sale on all their printer ink products.

A call came in who said "how can you sell your printer ink cheap like that?"

Well the answer is that we sell so much that we get great deals from our cartridge manufacturers and then pass those saving to our customers. However, we do not sacrifice quality for price. Our manufacturers even overfill their ink cartridges thus exceeding the total ink yield as compared to the OEM cartridges.

However, a recent test showed that half of the ink consumed is not used for printing. There were complaints that the printer ink was running out faster than expected. The test was run with the printers printing a total of 30 pages of text and graphic, a couple at a time over a period of three weeks. The printers were turned off after each job and turned on for the next one. Testers then weighed the ink cartridges to see exactly how much ink was used. It turned out with some of the printers less than half used ended up on the paper. The rest was used for routine maintenance tasks like cleaning the printer head when the printer is turned on after not being used for a while.

The printers that were frugal on their ink usage were mostly Brother printers. There was a split on the ink usage with HP printers. Canon showed their printers use a lot of printer ink for maintenance. In addition, Brother printer ink cartridges are generally cheaper compared to HP models. The lesson learned here is to leave the printer on to avoid triggering the maintenance cycle each time you turn on the printer.

Just to point out, this test was done with original manufacturers ink cartridges, not compatible cartridges. Our inks have fared pretty well, so consider taking the challenge to buy cheap printer ink from
