Barbie InkJet Printer

Monday, October 26th, 2009

barbie-nail-printerAt the Consumer Electronic Show(CES) of 2009 held in Las Vegas, NV Mattel showed off its new Barbie Doll’d Up Nails Digital Nail Printer.  Huh?  This new compact pink printer selling at Toys R Us for $179.99 allows children (and adults) to upload any image to print on your nails.  The process, running with a computer program, entails a base coat, bonding coat and top coat.   Ink refill kits run about $10 and the nail polish kit will cost you about $30.  You should get about a few hundred prints.

Printing straight on the nail doesn’t stay on very long.  The process should be a base coat and then a special bonding coat to print on the nail, then the top coat.

More information can be found here.  I don’t think we will have any compatible ink for this machine so it might be a little pricey in the long run.  But what the heck, it looks pretty fun and girls will love it.  Anyway you save the trip to the nail salon.
